American Kidney Fund

Health Literacy, Bilingual Education, and Trust-Driven Outreach in Healthcare

⸻

Marketing Specialist (2011 – 2014)

At the American Kidney Fund, I partnered across education, fundraising, advocacy, and communications teams to develop national campaigns and educational resources that increased health literacy, engagement, and donor participation within a highly regulated healthcare environment.

I led the design and production of interactive educational booklets for children living with kidney disease, using approachable illustrations, activities, and visual storytelling to make complex medical concepts more understandable and less intimidating. For adult patients and caregivers, I developed practical, easy-to-navigate resources—including toolkits, calendars, posters, flipbooks, and event materials—used in community outreach, patient education sessions, and national programs.

In close collaboration with the fundraising team, I supported donor activation initiatives, including the development and promotion of a text-to-give campaign and its associated event collateral. This work helped modernize donation pathways and reduce friction for supporters engaging at live events and community activations. I also led the promotion and visual identity for the organization’s annual national drawing competition, creating cohesive campaign assets that increased participation and visibility across digital and event channels.

My work spanned print, digital, web, and live-event environments. I also designed and launched AKF’s responsive blog and contributed to a broader website redesign, helping modernize how educational and fundraising content was delivered, discovered, and experienced online.
